Words worth knowing.
- Peril
- A specific cause of loss or damage, such as hail, fire, theft, or vandalism.
- Comprehensive event
- A damage event that happens outside of a collision with another vehicle or object while driving.
- Deductible
- The portion of a covered repair cost the vehicle owner is responsible for before coverage applies.
- Total loss
- A determination that repair costs have passed a threshold relative to the vehicle value.
- Act of nature
- A damage event caused by weather or natural forces rather than by a person or a vehicle.
- Salvage title
- A title status applied to a vehicle after it has been declared a total loss.
